The Lutheran Church of Subate, which was built in 1685., has the special place in the history of art in Latvia. At the first, its architecture is totally different from the traditional architecture of churches of countrysides in Latvia. At the second, the name of Subate is used to say about the group of woodcarvers and woodsculptors, which at the end of 17. century made a lot of different equipments for churches in Latvia and Lithuania. The equipment of the church in Subate, probable, was the biggest piece of work of this group, it was reconstructed just a little. Under the rich decoration can be easy seen the construction of the building, which is supplemented with the big number of sculptures and narrative mouldings.

Augstkalnes Catholic parochial St. Familie Church is wooden building layed with bricks. It is 18,5 m high and 8,5 m wide. In spring 1946. Pope Janis Strods started to build new Church in the place, where old Church burnt down in 1944.

Brigu Catholic Church is built in 1880. during Pasienes dominican mission works. It is wooden church, almost wooden interior, precious altar piece. There is garden and wall around the church.

It was built 1848. - 1849. Architectonically it is like St. Peter Bazilica in Vatican. The big dome of white church is placed on 4 double-pillars.

Borovkas church was built in 1811 by Vaclovs and Kasimir Plateri. Borovka was Kraslavas congregation branch. Book your visit in advince!

On the old Lutheran cemetary of Laši are graves of the family of Mēnesmeitiņa (Ida Apsāne). She was praised by Rainis. They are three near placed metal crosses on the granite foundation with the moulding on each. On I. Apsāne gravestone is written :"Ida Marie Apsahn dzim. 23 März 1867 mir. 10 April 1887". On the granite foundation is placed portrait in the porcelain oval of I. Apsāne.

In Jaunborne on the big stone is built 2 m x 1.5 m x 2 m big bricks chapel with galvanized iron roof. The boulder above-ground is 3.6m x 2.5 m x 0.9 m. The chapel is stone pillar with niche, where is placed the picture of regular helper of the Virgin Mary in the wooden frame. On the frame is written in Polish : 1907. October 15. Further is the request to Our Lady, to give the heath. Under the niche is brass tin plate with the inscription in Polish: “Matko Boska Nìeustajacej Pomocy Mòdl sìę za Nami” (In Your sanctuary).

A picturesque place that has a connection with a romantic legend about a big and devoted love between Count Plāter’s daughter Emīlija and a Polish officer Jozefs Karnickis. A fascinating event which had a tragic end happened in 1838 in Krāslava. The young people fell in love with each other. Count Plāters was against that love. Emīlija and Jozefs decided to kill themselves on one day: Jozefs had to shoot himself on one of Krāslava’s hills, but Emīlija had to jump out of the window of the third floor of Krāslava castle. After seeing the sign Jozefs shot himself, but Emīlija was saved by a servant at the last moment. Jozefs was buried on the place of his death. A monument was built. In 2020, a viewing telescope was installed on the top of the Karnicka hill, which currently allows to enjoy a wonderful view of the Daugava bends and the architecture of Krāslava.

The Lutheran Church, partly surrounded by old trees, is situated in Krāslava, in the corner of Counts Plāters park. The first foundation stone had been placed in 1935 but the church had been consecrated in 1938. The church had worked until 1944. In the 1950s, the church tower had been pulled down. In 1984 the museum exhibition hall was established here, it was located here until 1996, when the congregation regained the church. Services in Kraslavas Lutheran congregation are held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. For visiting church please book in advance!

Medumi Catholic Church was built 1933. - 1935. under supervision of dean J. Plonis for money of the parish. Its architect was Pavlovs.
